Totally Enclosed Crankcase- Rugged design and heavy, one-piece cast iron construction provide maximum durability. Closed design prevents contaminants from entering crankcase and helps keep maintenance costs low.

Precision Finished Disc Valves- The discharge valve lets air out of the cylinder, but not in. The suction valve, in normal operation, lets air in but not out. When running unloaded, suction valves breathe air in and out.. no compression takes place. For minimum maintenance costs, the valves are individually removable and can be removed without removing the cylinder head.

Deep Finned Air Cooled Cylinders- Cylinders provide even cooling around pistons for reduced wear. Deepest fins are at top where heat is greatest.

Rifle Drilled Crankshaft- Rifle drilled lubrication passages provide lubrication to crankshaft bearings and connecting rod bearings for smooth running and long service life.

Matched, Balanced Pistons- Efficient automotive type pistons are matched and balanced in sets for smooth running.

Low Oil Pressure/Low Oil Level Unloader- Compressor life is protected and extended by the unloading system that is automatically activated during starting and during
operation if oil level or pressure falls below safe limit.

Positive Starting Unloader- Air control valve, integral with oil pressure system, keeps compressor unloaded until normal operating sped and oil pressure is reached.

Accessible, Positive Displacement Oil Pump- Directly driven by the crankshaft, the rotary vane oil pump eliminates dry starts since lubrication begins with rotation of the crankshaft. Overall maintenance costs are low due to a properly lubricated, smooth running machine. Easy accessibility of the pump also helps keeps service time and costs low.

Crankshaft with Adjustable, Tapered Roller Bearings- Crankshaft is counterbalanced to minimize vibration. Tapered, adjustable bearings help keep crankshaft in proper alignment.

Separate, Detachable Cylinders- The individually removable cylinders make serviceability faster and easier, so downtime and maintenance costs are lowered.

Removable Valve Housings- Valve housings are individually removable, and can be removed without removing the cylinder head for faster and easier servicing.

Deep Finned Intercooler- (On 2 Stage Models) Located between the first and second stage cylinders, the intercooler lowers air temperature to acceptable limits before it reaches the second stage cylinder.

Intercooler Safety Valve- (On 2 Stage Models) Prevents over-pressuring of low pressure and high pressure cylinder heads and warns of malfunctions. It acts as both a safety and problem warning device.

Pressure Lubrication System
Proper lubrication is a critical factor in the reliability and longevity of a compressor. Simply stated, lubrication begins with the movement of the crankshaft so there’s no chance of dry starting. A positive displacement, rotary vane oil pump is direct driven by the crankshaft. It’s located in the rear retainer assembly, on the opposite side of the crankshaft from the flywheel and is easily accessible. The pump provides pressure lubrication to the crankshaft and connecting rod bearings. Through oil throwoff from the crankshaft, lubrication is provided to the piston pin bushings and cylinder walls. This system helps keep maintenance costs low because the unit is always well lubricated. Service costs are low due to easy pump accessibility, and the easy access facilitates change-over if compressor drive rotation is reversed.
